Pharmacy First represents the NHS healthcare service offered through your nearby community pharmacy. It’s the initial point of contact for individuals experiencing minor conditions, including those mentioned below.
The pharmacist or a member of the pharmacy team is available to provide guidance on self-care, recommend you to an appropriate healthcare professional, or, if deemed suitable, prescribe a product.
All of these services are fully covered by the NHS Pharmacy First program, and there’s no need for appointments.
How does it work?
Similar to GPs, pharmacists, can only offer certain NHS medicines and products. These selections have undergone extensive examination and verification to ensure their effectiveness in treating your condition.
You may need to purchase a product or medication if it’s not covered. The pharmacist will offer advice on this.
